Parents - A Child's Favorite Toy

Parents - A Child's Favorite Toy
I love teaching children.  At a very young age children are so attentive to mom and dad, and guess what?  You are your child's best and favorite toy.  Believe it or not, children's work is play.  Why?  Because it is through play that they learn the best.  It makes sense that you are their favorite play mate.  They learn so much by watching your mouth as you speak and hear the words that you say.

Spending time with your children is crucial to their development.  Get down on the floor and crawl with your child, stack blocks, and more.  Many of these these simple skills will help your child with Fine Motor practice.  For example, crawling around will help develop the tendons in the hands, stacking blocks increases hand and eye coordination, and so much more.

There are some great toys out there to help teach children.  One that I have found to be very good is the Mr. Potato Head.

Mr. Potato Head has several different uses in helping to teach your child.  It is great for fine motor development as a child puts each piece in a small hole.  They learn colors, body parts, and develop their imagination.

Other games for young children and toddlers that help in developing Fine Motor skills include  stringing beads and stacking blocks.  A fun game is to use an old tissue box, punch some holes in it and provide your child with pipe cleaners to poke into the holes.

Many of these games are easy and inexpensive and help develop an array of skills for your developing child.  You will see the best results when you get down with your child and play along.  Not only will you teach your children many fine skills, but you will build a relationship with them that will be long lasting and precious to both you and your child.  Best of luck, and have fun playing!
